Do you want to know how to take photo? Have you been thinking of getting a camera or want to know what camera to buy? Do you want to know how to use the different features of your camera? Have you taken pictures and think so what do I do now? This course will help you! 

Learn about how cameras work, why pictures you take never look right and what you can do to improve. When you have taken some photos, learn about the different photo file types and when to use them, how to import photos to you computer and undertake basic editing.

Topics covered will include:

  1. How cameras work
  2. Types of cameras, their strengths and weaknesses
  3. Basic modes on cameras
  4. The basics of composition
  5. Transferring images from your camera to your computer
  6. Basic editing skills

 You will need a digital camera for some aspects of the course or a smartphone with a digital camera attached. You will be able to use your own images on the course or the one’s supplied by the tutor. To load your images onto the computer you will need your camera’s USB cable or a card reader. Neither are required in week one.

This will be a practical course with hands on use of your camera.

Haydn Rees Jones

Haydn has worked for Rossett Extended Schools since 2004 and works as an Adult Education Tutor for North Yorkshire County Council, delivering across a range of vocational and learning for leisure courses. In his spare time Haydn enjoys digital photography and uses Photoshop to enhance his digital pictures. He also is a co-host of a podcast and produces videos on YouTube videos and Twitch.
