Students have completed three years of German or have a good understanding of the German language. The course is divided into three terms (10 weeks each term) and, by the end of the three terms, students should be able to:
* deal with most situations likely to arise whilst travelling in an area where the language is spoken
* produce simple connected text on topics which are familiar or of personal interest, eg. environment, travel, fashion etc
* describe experiences and events using both the past and future tenses
* give reasons and explanations for opinions and plans
* take an active part in discussions on topics they are familiar with, and present a point of view
* understand a wide range of simple texts, such as advertisements or newspaper articles
