French Upper Intermediate 2

This course is for: students who have completed at least 4 years of French and who wish to consolidate and extend that knowledge.

The course is divided in three terms and by the end of the three terms students should be able to:

·         understand a wide range of articles and longer texts and also grasp implicit meanings.

·         Express him/herself spontaneously and fluently.

·         Use the language effectively and flexibly in his/her social and professional life.

• Make clear, structured and detailed statements on complex topics and apply various means of text association appropriately in the process

·         Develop cultural awareness and cross-cultural capability

·         Discuss political and social issues

Topics on:

·     current affairs in France and the francophone world

·         Contemporary French and francophone culture: literature, theatre, cinema, art, media.

·         Contemporary French and francophone society: customs, new trends.

·         Study of a contemporary French novel selected by students.

For the first session students will need:

Pen and paper only. Students will be provided with handouts/worksheets.

Additional Costs:

The tutor will suggest a textbook for you to buy.
